Notes on the Video ‘Turbulence’ Out There

Felicity Spear Artist

The DVD Turbulence, was made using a modified web cam through a 12” Notaperture Schmidt Cassegrain telescope, with an effective focal length of 7.5 metres.

This image references the process of mapping remote space with light, where unseen phenomena are made visible through a machine produced visibility.

Spear spent some time at the Magellan Observatory. New South Wales, where she collected astronomical material with the astronomer Zane Hammond. The DVD is of Mars, and the movement is caused by atmospheric turbulence.
